Bay Point Woman Surrenders After Richmond McDonald’s Drive-thru Attack

Richmond, California – On Saturday, February 5th at approximately 12:30pm an altercation occurred in the drive thru line of a McDonald’s restaurant in the 2300 block of Macdonald Ave. The alleged suspect was seen on cell phone video throwing items at a vehicle in the drive thru line and then ramming into the victim’s vehicle while her young children were inside of it.

After the cell phone video ends, the confrontation continued to where the victim was struck with the suspect’s vehicle and carried on the hood of the vehicle for approximately fifty (50) yards onto Nevin Ave before she was thrown from it.

This incident and cell phone video was shared with our media partners, which allowed our community to provide numerous tips and leads to our investigations team.

On Tuesday, March 1st, the alleged suspect surrendered at the Richmond Police Department without incident where she was booked on multiple offenses related to this incident. This crime was ultimately solved by the overwhelming support of our community and media partners, who, in partnership with the police department quickly identified the suspect and helped, bring resolution to the victim and her family.

On Thursday, March 3rd the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon (245(a)(1) PC); two counts of misdemeanor child endangerment (273a(b) PC); one felony count of assault likely to cause great bodily injury (245(a)(4) PC) and one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident (20001VC) against Rhyan Hodge, a 29-year-old resident of Bay Point, CA
