At 4:09 pm Monday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle into the canal in Bay Point at Alves Lane at Willow Pass Road in Bay Point.
It was originally reported that a SUV went through a fence where it overturned and was upside down in the canal halfway under water, however, CONFIRE arrived on scene to locate a vehicle on its wheels in water.
CONFIRE reported that one patient was suffering from moderate injuries, however, due to the angle of attempting to get the patient free from the vehicle and canal, additional resources were needed.
As of 4:27 pm, crews were still attempting the rescue.
By 4:36 pm, it was reported the patient was out of the vehicle and they were beginning extrication and within minutes the patient extrication was complete.
