Bay Point: Vegetation Fire Along Highway 4

At 6:15 am Monday, Contra Costa County Firefighters received a report of a vegetation fire along westbound Highway 4 near the San Marco exit in Bay Point.

Engine 86 reported about an acre on fire as of 6:23 am.

It was reported by Battalion 8 the fire was under control by 6:30 am and by 7:00 am the fire was out. The fire was a little less than an acre.

I know the area! I wonder who started this fire? There’s a lot of dry vegetation there which should have been removed.

We need cameras to be mounted along Hwy 4 — going east and west — to catch idiots who either throw cigarettes out of their cars or people actually walking and setting fires to dry brush. The CALTRANS people should remove the dry brush on a regular basis.
