Bay Point: Sheriff’s Office Investigate Assault with Intent to Commit Rape

by ECT

On Thursday at about 1:04 PM, Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched to an alleged rape.

A woman told Deputies she got on a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train in San Francisco and was approached by a man. The two started a conversation. They got off the BART train at the Pittsburg/Bay Point station and exited the station. They walked north on Bailey Road.

Sometime during their walk while in a vacant field near Mims Avenue and Canal Road, the man exposed himself to the woman and told her to perform a sexual act on him. The suspect then physically assaulted the victim and tried to remove her clothing, but the victim fought him off and was able to get away.

The victim was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The suspect in this case was described as a black male adult, possibly in his 20’s, approximately 5’8” to 5’9”, medium build, with some facial hair. The suspect was last seen wearing black athletic shoes, blue jeans, and a white or gray hooded sweater under a hooded black jacket with fur trim on the hood. He was also carrying a red and black colored messenger style bag. Several photos of the suspect are attached.

Anyone with any information about this case is asked to contact the Investigation Division at (925) 646-2441 or (925) 313-2600. For any tips, call 866-846-3592 to leave an anonymous voice message or email: [email protected].

Don’t talk with anyone on BART, unless you know them. For God’s sake, why in hell did she walk with him on Bailey Road towards Mims and Canal? It’s a deserted area! She didn’t use her head!

Placing fault on the victim….exactly why so many don’t come forward.

Not blaming the vic just pointing out you have to be leery of strangers.

In this case, the “victim” was at fault, unfortunately! You’d have to be out of your mind to get (1) involved in a conversation with a total stranger and (2) make a decision to walk with him into an area which is deserted! That’s just not using your head and she could have even ended up far worse than an attempt at rape!

You can’t trust strangers, especially women trusting men. It’s a sad reality.

BART security should be able to provide additional photos of this guy and tell authorities which BART station he got on the train at.

I don’t think anyone was blaming the victim, I think you are over reacting and wanting attention. They were simply stated not to be-friend people on Bart, especially with all the creep stories you hear. You have to be aware of your surroundings and always have your guard up. But I will say it, if was her fault and she should have been more cautious. Walking with a stranger she meet on Bart in a bad neighborhood!!! Not very smart. I am sure he gave her many red flags and she should have hailed an Uber or notify a police officer. Instead another creep gets away because some dumb ass loves attention.

Bart has been so bad lately, and we are so good at giving up our liberties lately; for everyone’s safety, truly, bart tickets ought to be tied to identification cards. Bart is tied to the airports so maybe the Port Authority ought to take over, or at least some security rules could apply. Bart police are to few and far between. I have family that has been assulted on Bart and I have a sincere interest in the safety of all passengers; but it seems women really wind up being the victims on Bart. Its unacceptable the risk being taken in the name of public transit/ “the greater good”.

Sorry, but you don’t pull out your Jimmy on some girl even if you were having a nice conversation. Victim wasn’t too smart on this one but that doesn’t mean she needs to be belittled. If there’s no evidence he’ll probably get off. He said-she said never goes to well in court

Maybe the victim will finally realize that she has to BUY A BRAIN! Never talk with anyone on BART, be it a man or a woman UNLESS you know them! Going off with someone you DO NOT KNOW, is just plain dumb!
