On Tuesday, the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office was dispatched to a report of the discovery of what appeared to be dynamite.
The sheriffs officer immediately blocked off the roadway at Mountain View Avenue in Bay Point and evacuated several homes in the area as a precaution. The incident occurred just before 10:30 am.
According to Jimmy Lee, sheriffs spokesperson, the Walnut Creek Police Department Bomb Squad was contacted and arrived on scene. It was decided to render the dynamite safe on site.
At about 1:30 PM, the dynamite was rendered safe. There was no property damage or injuries said Lee.
