BART: Human Remains Found on Tracks in Concord, Service Now Restored

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has shut down service in both directions between Pleasant Hill and Pittsburg/Bay Point after possible human remains were spotted on the tracks this morning.

According to Alicia Trost, BART is in the process of starting a bus bridge to assist passengers between Pleasant Hill and Pittsburg/Bay Point as of 9:30 am, however, it was not yet in place.

BART Police are currently out on scene investigating the blood on the tracks for the third time today. They were already out in the area between Concord and North Concord Stations at 4:45 am for a report of a person on the trackers. They found nothing in the darkness. At first daylight, they were out a second time but located nothing.

10:05 am Update:
BART Police confirmed there are human remains on the tracks between Concord and the North Concord Bart Station BART said spokesperson Alicia Trost.  Police is on scene and awaiting on County Coroner.

There will be no service for quite some time.

12:00 pm Update:

BART has restored service with delays between Pleasant Hill to Pittsburg/Bay Point after the BART police wrapped up their work on the tracks and the Coroner removed the body.  BART is still investigating how a person ended up on the tracks.
