Here is a look at the local events in East Contra Costa County this weekend along with save the date for a few events further out.


8:00 am: Brentwood Farmers Market
Join the Brentwood Farmers Market which runs every Saturday now through November 19 on Oak Street in Brentwood. The market runs from 8:00 am to noon.


8:00 am: Oakley Offers Wood Chips
Need some wood chips/mulch for your landscaping? Wood chips will be available for pick‐up on Saturday, August 20th from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the City Yard located at the corner of Neroly Road and Main Street (entrance on Neroly Rd)


9:00 am: Brentwood Park in the Park
The annual “Bark in the Park” dog parade will be held on Saturday, August 20th in City Park, located at the corner of Second and Oak Streets.  This event is fun for the entire family!  To register, dogs must be properly licensed, tagged, and current on their vaccinations.  All dogs must be on a leash and are encouraged to wear costumes!  This is a free event and is hosted by the Brentwood Advisory Neighborhood Committee.


10:00 am: Freshest Cargo at Antioch Marina
The Freshest Cargo truck will be making two new stops in downtown Antioch! Come n’ get your leafy greens, summer squash, and the last of the summer stone fruit at the Antioch Marina & the corner of G and 2nd St.

 6:00 pm Antioch Summer Concert Series (Free)

This Saturday, August 20, Touch of Class will be playing (R&B, Funk, Oldies and Standards) in Waldie Plaza from 6-8 PM. The free concerts will continue every Saturday through the end of August.  The concerts are possible due to the generosity of our sponsors.

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and visit a downtown restaurant before the concert or bring a light meal/snack from home. Waldie Plaza is a designated park and park rules apply (no alcohol, dogs on leash, etc.).


6:00 pm: Oakley Summer Concert Series
Join the City of Oakley for a summer concert featuring “The Floorshakers”. The concert will be held at the Civic Center Plaza, 3231 Main Street from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Admission and parking is free. The Floorshakers are a well‐known local band that has taken their funk, soul and rock and roll music to all of the Bay Area through past performances. Guests may bring lawn chairs and a picnic dinner or pick up dinner or a
tasty snack at one of the many restaurants downtown.


6:30 pm: Antioch Speedway
You are invited to watch racing Saturday night at the Antioch Speedway with six divisions which include Wingless 360 Sprints, A Mods, B Mods, Hobby Stocks and Dwarf Cars Gates open at 5:00 pm and racing begins at 6:30 pm.

August 25: Hannah Nicole Vineyards  New ERA Wine Release

These wines demonstrate the beautiful symmetry of wine making, perfectly balanced while capturing the true essence of each varietal.

Julian will be here to share them with you and available to sign collector bottles.

Reception with artisan cheese pairing with our first productions by Julian will include; ’15 Rose, ’15 Viogner & ’15 Sauvignon Blanc.

These wines will not be released until late September.   For this night only our special guests attending the event will be given an opportunity to purchase the wines with special pricing on a minimum purchase of 6 bottles at a 30% discount or purchase 12 bottles and receive 40% off.

August 27-28: Art Wine & Jazz Festival at Streets of Brentwood
The Brentwood Art Society annual premier fundraising event, Art, Wine & Jazz Festival is hosted once again by The Streets of Brentwood. A family friendly free event in a perfect venue brings together local vintners, original art and fine craft and the Bay Area’s finest musicians representative of multiple genres of Jazz.

August 28: Antioch Rivertown Celebrates Exclusive Local Wines
Please join us for a relaxing afternoon of wine tasting at our beautiful Historical Museum in Rivertown. We will be tasting wines from 5 local and exceptional wineries, Bloomfield, Cline, D’Art, Leer and Viano.

The event is Sunday August 28th from 2pm to 5pm at the Antioch Historical Museum located at 1500 W. 4th Street in downtown Antioch. Tickets are only $25!

Included in the ticket price are specialty hors d’oeuvres, an amazing raffle and a silent auction of antique items from some of our Rivertown residents. All this while listening to the smooth sounds of saxophonist Shawn Raiford. The museum will also be open for you to tour during your visit.

September 23: Antioch Police Activities League 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The Antioch Police Activities League have announced they will host their 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament registration for player and sponsorship is now open. The tournament will be taking place on Friday, September 23, 2016, at Lone Tree Golf Course and Event Center here in Antioch.

The field is limited to 128 players and is now sold out.

September 24: Special Haven Texas Hold ‘Em Fundraiser event

On Sept. 24, join Special Haven for a Texas Hold ‘Em Fundraiser event at the Brentwood Veterans Memorial Hall at 757 First Street in Brentwood. Dinner is at 5:00 pm with cards beginning at 6:30 pm. The event is $60 before 9/10 or $80 at the door. Dinner is $25 there are also raffles, 50/50 raffle, and door prizes.

All money raised goes to Special Haven for the support and maintenance of their state of the art multi-sensory room. Special Haven is a non-profit organization to provide our special needs community a creative outlet to express themselves with unlimited possibilities. Non-profit 501c3 EIN -45-3232173
