Here is a look at this weekends events in East Contra Costa County.

8:00 am: Brentwood Farmers Market
The 2017 season will run every Saturday through November 18  located at First Street between Oak and Chestnut.


9:00 am: Pittsburg Farmers Market
Join the Pittsburg Farmers Market Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm between May 6 through October 21 located at Railroad Ave between 5th and 6th Streets.


9:00 am – Bethel Island 50’s Bash
The community is invited to join the community of Bethel Island for the 2017 50’s Bash for a weekend of fun and entertainment for the entire family.

  • Car Show – Cars & Bikes
  • 9:00 am – Dog Show: $2 entry and lots of fun, judging and ribbons.
  • 11:00 am to 4:00 pm – Catfish Races: sponsor a catfish for $50 and if your catfish places in top three in final heat you could win $100, $200, $300. Races are held daily from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm in the Community park. To sponsor call Lion Larry at (925) 4356

9:00 am – Brentwood Bark in the Park
Brentwood Bark in the Park returns on Saturday, Aug.19 in Brentwood City Park on the corner of Oak and Second Street.

Contra Costa Animal Control will be providing their Licensing Amnesty Program again this year and new this year is a Rabies Shot Clinic. Shots will be $7 but proof of spay or neuter is required.

Free Registration for the Parade begins at 9:00 am and the Parade at 10:15 am. The event will run until 12:00 pm.

Meanwhile, the Brentwood Police Department will be holding a K9 Demonstration of Tzak during registration.


10:00 am -Antioch Animal Services Clear the Shelter Day
All of the adoptable dogs and cats at the shelter, 300 “L” St in Antioch will be available free of charge to qualified adopters from 10 AM til 5 PM; meaning you can bring home your new furry friend complete with spay/neuter, microchip & vaccinations for FREE (Antioch Residents must purchase $19 dog license). You don’t want to miss this!!


10:00 AM – Contra Costa County Clear the Shelter Day
 Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) will be offering free adoptions of all animals this Saturday, August 19 as part of national “Clear the Shelter Day.” People interested in taking advantage of this free adoption promotion can visit CCAS’ Martinez and Pinole shelters.

The free adoption special includes all fees associated with adopting an animal, including: adoption fees, spay/neuter, micro-chipping and vaccination.

  • Martinez Adoption Center – 4800 Imhoff Pl., Martinez, CA 94553
  • Pinole Adoption Center – 910 San Pablo Ave., Pinole, CA 94564

11:00 am: Brentwood PAL Rock N’ Rods 2017
Join the Brentwood PAL for its Summer Music Series at Harvest Park Bowl located at 5000 Balfour Road beginning at 11:00 am with music to start at 12:00.  The event will include “No Junk” raffle along with food that includes tri tip, burgers, hot dogs by Brentwood Fine Meats. There will also be 60+ hot rods, exotic and custom cars.

Bands include: Till I Fall, Get Out, Stay Out, The End Alls, Unlucky Me, Dream Without Sleep, Mike & Ikes, The Boogies, Fire Punch, The Jukebox Breakers.

6:00 pm: Antioch Summer Concert Series

The free Saturday Summer Concert Series continues through August 26th. The concerts are held in Waldie Plaza in downtown Antioch, across from City Hall, from 6-8 PM. The concerts are for all ages and is a gathering place for family and friends, as well as an great location to make new friends. The concert venue backdrop is the beautiful Delta River, along with occasional trains, sailboats, tugboats and more. A nice summer breeze will keep you cool and comfortable as you enjoy a variety of music though-out the summer. Parking is available in the many parking lots in downtown Antioch.

The 2017 remaining concert lineup includes:

  • August 19th, Last Call, Southern Rock;
  • August 26th, Frankie G & the Conviction, High-energy Blues & Grooves.

Seating is not provided, lawn chairs and blankets are recommended.

8:00 pm: El Campanil Hosts James Clark and the Jailhouse Rockers
James Clark & The Jail House Rockers, A Tribute to Elvis. James Clark is a Nationally Acclaimed Elvis Tribute Artist, rated top 10 in Las Vegas King of Kings. He has performed with Elvis’ legendary Jordanaires, Laughlin, Nevada. Presently Headlining Casino’s. The Band has had the privilege to open for such acts as Mark Lindsay, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Steppen Wolf, The Drifters, Juice Newton and Jerry Lee Lewis.

James Clark & The Jail House Rockers, is California’s PREMIERE ELVIS Tribute Band! Certain to bring back your Fondest Memories of Elvis. This is a high energy show, lasting two full hours with spectacular suits, and award winning vocals performed by James Clark from 1968 to the late 1970’s. A Very Classy portrayal of Elvis Presley and his band.

8:30 pm (sunset) – Oakley Movie in the Park
Join the City of Oakley for the Movie in the Plaza event featuring the movie Sing! Bring your lawn chair and blankets to Oakley Civic Center Plaza. Admission is FREE. Movies begin approximately 30 minutes after sunset. Snacks and beverages for sale at the snack bar.

  • 2:00 pm – Rubber Duck Race where one can sponsor/adopt a duck and 1st prize is $300, 2nd is $200, and 3rd is $100. Adoption fee is $5 per racer.
