Assemblyman Encourages Students to Attend Cash For College Workshops

by ECT

Frazier Profile

Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) is encouraging students to attend Cash for College Workshops between January 14th and March 1st at convenient locations throughout Solano and Contra Costa Counties.

Financial aid experts will be on site to assist students and their families with filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Cal Grant GPA Verification Form required for Cal Grants.  High school seniors who attend a workshop, complete an exit survey, and apply for a Cal Grant before the March 2nd deadline may also qualify for an extra $1,000 incentive scholarship.

“Today, every low- or moderate-income student who meets the specified academic requirements is guaranteed financial assistance.  We must do everything we can to ensure that every qualifying student takes advantage of this extraordinary opportunity,” Assemblymember Frazier said.

Qualifying students receive Cal Grants awards from the State of California, which provide full financing for tuition and fees at the California State University or the University of California.  Awards are also given to community college students and students entering private California colleges.

Students who plan on attending Cash for College Workshops will need the following:

  • A Social Security card or driver’s license (if available);
  • Parent’s Social Security Card (if available);
  • Parent’s Federal Income Tax Return or W-2 Form from 2013 (Or 2012 to make an estimate);
