Assembly Education Vice Chair Calls for Review of Superintendent of Equity Daniel Lee’s Employment

by ECT

SACRAMENTO – Assembly Education Committee Vice Chair Kevin Kiley (R-Rocklin) sent a letter (attached) to Government Operations Agency Secretary Yolanda Richardson requesting a legal review of California Department of Education Superintendent of Equity Daniel Lee’s employment with the state.

This follows concerns raised in a recent report by Politico that Mr. Lee resides, votes, and owns a business in Pennsylvania while being employed by the State of California. His taxpayer-funded salary is over $160,000.

Amy Palmer, spokesperson for the California Government Operations Agency, recently told Politico that “State employment is for California residents unless the job requires a different location.” She made it clear that there are few exceptions to this rule.

Assemblyman Kevin Kiley represents the 6th Assembly District, which includes the Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado County communities of Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills, Fair Oaks, Folsom, Granite Bay, Lincoln, Loomis, Orangevale, Penryn, Rocklin, Roseville, and Sheridan.
