Asm. Frazier, Chair of Assembly Transportation, Unveils His Long-Term Vision for California’s Future

by ECT

Sacramento, CA – On Thursday at the 16th Annual California Transportation Forum, Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D – Oakley) laid out his action plan as Chair of the Transportation Committee.

“As Chair, I have a vision that will rebuild California’s once great transportation infrastructure system,” said Frazier. “This long-term plan will put California back in business by focusing on the customer and treating transportation as a valued commodity.”

Frazier’s plan to revitalize California’s transportation system will create a comprehensive, corridor-wide approach with clear, measurable objectives. The strategy would ultimately set focused goals for Caltrans, and would develop an expenditure plan to encourage private industry investment in California’s transportation system. These investments will be made to build, operate and maintain top quality corridors that will bolster the nation’s goods movement system.

“Businesses, shippers and manufacturers need skin in the game to have a meaningful say in which projects we build,” said Frazier. “We need to form a trusting relationship between private industry and State. We will do this by exercising principles of good government to provide deliverable results that will incentivize business to invest and succeed in California.”

Frazier also expressed the need for competition and innovation. The projects that will take priority will be those that foster public-private partnerships, are financed through private capital money, that move the greatest volume of cargo faster and more reliably and that do so with the least emissions.

“This course of action is a long-term vision, a long-term commitment and will require long-term trust,” said Frazier. “In return for transportation investment in California, we make the promise of creating jobs, fostering innovative business and maintaining the best trade corridors in the world.”
