Antioch Man in Custody after Leading Officers on a Pursuit

by ECT

On Tuesday at about 6:13, a Lafayette police officer initiated a traffic stop on a Nissan on Mt. Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette. Lafayette officers were aware that the driver had an outstanding arrest warrant.

Once the driver became aware he had a warrant, he drove the vehicle away at a high rate of speed striking one officer with the vehicle door and almost striking another officer who was attempting to detain him.

The suspect led officers on a pursuit that went onto westbound Highway 24. The pursuit continued along the highway, just east of the Wilder exit. The suspect ran north from the vehicle and into the surrounding hills.

A perimeter was established and oadditional resources from surrounding agencies responded to assist. After an extensive 2 hour search, the suspect was taken into custody.

He is identified as 22 year old Cothell Palmore of Antioch. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facilty on numerous charges that include felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, probation violation and an outstanding warrant. He is being held without bail.
