Antioch: Firefighters Battle Vegetation Fire Along Railroad Tracks

At around 7:30 am Thursday, Contra Costa County firefighters were dispatched to a report of smoke coming from the area of L St and W 18th in the City of Antioch.

While units were responding, multiple other calls came in and was upgraded to a working vegetation fire. Upon arrival, Engine 81 reported a 1/4 acre vegetation fire along the railroad tracks.

By 7:49 am, the fire was contained to a 3/4 acre and could handle with units on scene.

Homeless again. Lots between G and L along the tracks.

This is where a lot of these “homeless” have their encampments! We can no longer just piddle around with them. Law enforcement should get more involved in taking these encampments apart. These fires are just the beginning and it will be a LONG HOT SUMMER!

Antioch cannot do anything to get rid of them on the train easement except call and tell them to take care of their property. Their own police do it.
