The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District battled back to back vegetation fires in Antioch Wednesday night along with a third fire that broke out across town where East Contra Costa Fire Protection District lent an assist.
The first incident came in at roughly 8:14 pm where multiple callers reported a field was on fire on W. 2nd Street and E Street. Calls then came in claiming a structure was on fire. As Antioch Police made their way to he scene, they confirmed only vegetation was on fire which included grass, brush, and trees. CONFIRE was on scene for roughly 49-minutes and were able to handle with 4-engine companies. As a precaution, the incident shut down the rail road tracks as crews worked. E81, E82, E85, Q83 can were on scene to handle along with BC8
While crews were still on W 2nd Street, a second fire broke out less than a mile away on Marie and Wilbur where a quarter acre caught fire at roughly 8:56 pm. This fire was handled by E88, E82 and BC8 and handled with little issue as they prevent trees from catching blaze and kept it to grass and away from nearby structures.
Finally, a third fire broke out across town which is being classified as an “outside fire”. This incident occurred on Canada Valley Rd in Antioch at roughly 9:10 pm. This incident was responded to by East Contra Costa Fire Protection District engines 93 and 52

It sounds like someone had too much fun with matches. Damn shame to waste all the resources for someone acting like an idiot.
Thankfully no one was injured.
