Very sad news to report this evening as its being reported by the Contra Costa Times that the 83-year-old man who was beaten during a robbery has died.
Patrick Chang, 83, died late Tuesday morning at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. He had been in critical condition since the May 18 incident in the parking lot of Orchard Hardware Supply in Antioch.
On May 23 a suspect was booked in to Juvenile Hall in Martinez on suspicion of felony assault and robbery after the Antioch Police Department released a photo and used social media to track down the suspect. These charges are likely to change now that the man has died.
It’s still unclear if the suspect above is the same person who was booked into Juvenile Hall.

This is terrible news, so sorry for this gentleman and his family. I hope the dirtbag that is responsible will get what he has coming, hopefully tried as an adult.
I hope this punk gets murder charges on his ass…I think his mama and papa are proud of him now…dirtbag..
So sorry for the news, Mike! I am glad the suspect was apprehended, but so sorry for the family. Sad state of affairs when a cell phone is the reason for a person losing their life!
I’m so sad to hear this. All I hope is whoever did this gets full prosecution – murder is murder and the person who does the deed deserves the consequences regardless of age. Obviously the didnt care that the victim was 83 years old so why should we care if the perp is under 18. This is uncontionable. Deepest condolences to this gentlemans family. So very sad.
Welcome to Antioch aka far east oakland
I don’t feel safe shopping anywhere in this town and I make my wife shop in other cities, and in nearby Brentwood. I so sad to see my neighbors that live on our block in Antioch, shopping in Brentwood. We need more PS ASAP!
If Obama had a son, he would like this this piece of *hit.
