On September 18 at 6:15 pm, Antioch Police were responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on W. 10th Street at Auto Center Drive in the City of Antioch.

Police and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters and AMR responded immediately and located a 16-year-old Antioch resident non-responsive and suffering major injuries.

Firefighters immediately requested a medical helicopter and he was air-lifted to an area trauma center where he underwent surgery and is currently listed in critical condition.

According to Antioch Police, the driver of the involved vehicle remained on scene and was cooperating with the investigation. Drugs and alcohol due not appear to be a factor in this collision. The Traffic Unit responded and took over the investigation.

we were driving in that area (near Hazel’s Hamburgers) and saw what appeared to be a skateboard lying in the road and cops and ambulance present The chopper came later. That area has poor visibility for a driver to see around the corner if turning right from Auto Center onto the Pittsburg/Antioch Highway which is what it becomes after 10th Street. Hope the skateboarder is OK.
