Clayton, CA – Contra Costa County Public Works is closing a portion of Morgan Territory Road between the Morgan Territory Regional Preserve Staging Area to a location approximately one-mile north of the staging area due to an abandoned trailer.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) is working to locate the trailer owner to get it removed as soon as possible. If CHP is unable to locate the owner, they will initiate removal with a towing company.
The incident began Tuesday at approximately 11:35 am and will continue into Wednesday.

(Updated) November 3, 2021, Clayton, CA – Morgan Territory Road between the Morgan Territory Regional Preserve Staging Area to a location approximately one-mile north of the staging area remains closed due to an abandoned trailer. Public Works staff are coordinating with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) who is contracting a tow truck to remove the trailer. This portion of the road will remain closed until Thursday, November 4, 2021.
There is currently no timeframe for reopening the road.
