AAA Says National Average of Gas is $1.77, California at $2.76

by ECT

On Monday, AAA reported only 12 states in the United States have an average of $2 per gallon or more with the national average at $1.77. California is sitting on an average of $2.76.

As of Monday, this is four cents than last week and 28 cents cheaper than last month and $1.11 less than last year.

“AAA forecasts that the national average will continue to decrease into next month, possibly dropping as low as $1.65,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson. “We haven’t seen gas prices that cheap since January 2009.”

Some states could see minimal fluctuation at the pump in coming weeks if demand jumps as businesses are given the green light to re-open. However, this will not have a large impact for the majority of the nation’s motorists.

According to GasBuddy, a gallon of gas in Antioch ranged from $2.65 to $2.99 while Costco was sitting at $2.35. In Brentwood, gas was $2.49 to $2.97. Pittsburg ranged from $2.39 to $2.89.

Around Contra Costa County, Concord was between $2.25 to $3.09. Martinez ranged from $2.31 to $3.29 while Richmond was between $2.45 to $3.09.
