AAA: National Gas Prices at $2.54, California at $3.52

by ECT

AAA said Tuesday that the national gas price average is $2.54 which is 3-cents cheaper than last week. Gas prices are $250 or less at 61% of the gas stations across the country.

They reported on the west coast, pump prices in California are at $3.52 while most of the region has seen a drop in prices. Increased gasoline stocks continue to help put downward pressure on pump prices in the region. According to EIA’s report for the week ending on January 10, total gas stocks in the region grew by just over 1 million bbl to 33.77 million bbl. The current supply level is 2.3 million bbl higher than last year’s level at this time, which will likely continue to help keep downward pressure on prices in the region throughout the week.

“Motorists across the country are paying less to fill-up as U.S. gasoline supply outpaces demand this winter,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson. “Typically, we see cheaper gas prices this time of year as motorists generally drive less.”

Today, gas prices are $2.50 or less at 61% of gas stations in the country.
