Bethel Island: Man Shot by Girlfriend Airlifted to Local Hospital

At 6:44pm Saturday, a man on Bethel Island was reportedly shot in the abdomen and was airlifted to a local hospital.

According to the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, a 48-year-old man was accidentally shot by his girlfriend in the 3500 block of Gateway Road.

Engine 93 (Oakley) arrived on scene and provided medical care with AMR after the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office secured the scene.

The patient was transported to a nearby field where a medical helicopter transported the man to John Muir Trauma Center in Walnut Creek.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident and have not confirmed if the shooting was considered accidental or not.
