436-Acre Fish Processing Facility Project Proposed on Bethel Island

by ECT

During the Tuesday meeting at the Bethel Island Municipal Advisory Council meeting, the board will discuss an application for a fish processing facility on a 436-acre parcel off Taylor Road.

According to the agenda, the applicant, Ricker Thermline Inc. and Global Foods is seeking to place a 30,000 square foot fish processing facility on a vacant parcel on Taylor Road which includes a 5,000 square foot fish nursery building, 100 acres of fish ponds, 20 acres of compost and 168 acres of orchards.

The total project is anticipated to cost $3.2 million if completed.

The Bethel Island MAC will decide on whether a land user permit will be granted. If approved, the project will still need to go before the Delta Protection Committee, the Delta Conservancy and Board of Supervisors.
