3 Dead, 5 Injured in Richmond Fathers Day Shooting

On Sunday, June 20th, 2021 at approximately 11:00PM, the Richmond Police Department Communications Center received multiple emergency calls regarding a shooting that had occurred in the 2100 block of Dunn Avenue. Upon arrival, Richmong police officers located multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene, and multiple victims were transported to local trauma centers for treatment of their injuries; a third victim later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. In total, eight victims were injured by gunfire, and three victims succumbed to their injuries as a result of this incident.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the incident was preceded by a large gathering attended by approximately 80 – 100 people. The shooting appears to have been targeted and isolated to this gathering however, the motive is unknown at this time. This incident is an active and ongoing investigation.
