In the initial investigation, CHP has very little details regarding how the deceased male died at the location or whether he was involved in a collision sometime last night. The deceased male is still unidentified at this time. The Contra Costa County Sheriff Coroners Office will take possession of the body and be the agency releasing his identification.

CHP says it is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs are a factor at all. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact Contra Costa CHP in Martinez, (925) 646-4980.

CHP needs your HELP in locating the suspect vehicle related to the FATAL Hit-&-Run from our previous press release below (from this morning) that occurred sometime last night on SR-4 around Bixler Road in East County. CHP is looking for a Toyota Tundra or Toyota Sequoia, most likely in the 2002-2006 range.

It could also possibly be a Lexus as well, because the maker of Toyota and Lexus are synonymous. The Hit-&-Run Vehicle should have collision damage to the front right headlight (or the headlight could be completely missing) and the damage would be consistent with hitting a large object.

If anyone has information regarding this incident, please call Contra Costa CHP in Martinez at 925-646-4980 or 1-800-TELL-CHP.

    • Or he was walking down the road and some asshole who was probably drunk hit the man walking on the side of the road. Sad because if the person who hit him took responsibility for their actions, this man possibly could have been saved. I am surprised that that intersection does not have cameras by now considering all the accidents in the last couple of years.
