Update 2.0: Wright Still Leads in Antioch Mayors Race, Killings Overtakes Johnson in Pittsburg

The Contra Costa County Elections Office released updated results Tuesday afternoon from the November 8 elections they continue to count votes leaving many races in suspense.

In Antioch, challenger Sean Wright (34.78%) has maintained his election night lead in the Mayor’s race against incumbent Wade Harper (34.21%). Harper closed the gap some, but Wright maintains a 159-vote lead. In the council race, it appears Lamar Thorpe and Monica Wilson each earned seats as they have a comfortable lead. Wilson has a 1,063-vote lead over Mary Rocha who is third.

Other races are even tighter.

In Oakley, on election night Claire Alaura was just a single vote (1) ahead of Paul Seger who are vying for the third council seat. With the latest update, Alaura (12.62%) can breathe a little easier as she extended her lead over Seger (12.02%) by 145-votes. Michael Dupray (11.20%) is currently fourth. Doug Hardcastle and Kevin Romick will retain their seats on the council.

In Pittsburg, Jelani Killings (25.67%) overtook Ben Johnson  (25.33%) for the second council seat. Prior to Tuesdays update, Johnson had a 29-vote lead, now it’s Killings who has a 167-vote lead.  Juan Antonio Banales was the top vote getter with 26.82% of the vote (or 6,248 votes).

In the Town of Discovery Bay, Bill Pease (34.78%) will retain his seat. The second spot available is still up for grabs as Bill Mayer (23.20%) has a 70-vote lead over Mark Simon (22.34%).
