Rio Vista: Citizens Take Down Armed Robbery Suspect

by ECT

At around 8:30PM on Tuesday August 15th, Rio Vista Police Officers received a call of a robbery in progress at the Shell Station on Highway 12.

A male suspect threatened the clerk with a knife and demanded money.

The clerk escaped the store unharmed and asked people outside to call the police. As officers arrived minutes later, they found citizens near the suspect on the ground in the parking lot. The suspect resisted officers, but was taken into custody. The knife was recovered.

There was no cash loss.

RVPD officers arrested James Williams IV, age 45 from Redwood City for attempted armed robbery and booked him into the Solano County Jail. RVPD will be working with other local agencies to determine if Williams may be a suspect in other robberies.
