Stockton, CA – Last week, Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-09) announced the start of his annual “Holiday Cards for Our Troops” program. Every year the Congressman’s district offices collect thousands of cards from the community with personal messages of gratitude for our men and women in uniform. Constituents are once again invited to submit cards to either of the Congressman’s district offices, and they will be delivered to troops at home and overseas during the upcoming holiday season.

“This holiday card program gives our community the opportunity to express their gratitude and thank our troops for their service,” said Congressman McNerney. “For many of the dedicated men and women in the armed services, their duties can take them far away from their loved ones during the holidays. Countless service members have told me that these simple messages of encouragement and support help boost morale when they cannot be home with their own families and friends during the holiday season.”

Holiday cards will be sent to troops stationed overseas in packages organized by the Contra Costa Blue Star Moms, East Bay Blue Star Moms, and Operation Creekside.

To participate in the program, make or purchase a holiday card and write a message of thanks to a service member. Cards must be delivered to Congressman McNerney’s office in Stockton or Antioch by Friday, November 16, 2018.  Cards should remain unaddressed and inside unsealed envelopes.

Holiday Card Guidelines:

  • Make sure to sign your card
  • Use salutations such as “Dear Service Member.” Cards addressed to specific individuals cannot be delivered through this program
  • Do not include inserts such as photographs or candy
  • Please do not include confetti or glitter on the cards or envelopes
  • Cards should not have an address and or a return address
  • Cards should remain inside an unsealed envelope

  1. How about we stop fighting endless, pointless wars. Or have infrastructure so our poorest and most vulnerable young men and women don’t join the military as a sacrifice for a way out of their plight they were born into. Boycott the military industrial complex. Let the rich fight their own wars, let them send their children to the front lines instead of chickening out like our president.
