Monday: May Day March Set to Close Concord Roads

by ECT

Concord, CA – On Monday, May 1, 2017, at approximately 4:00 PM, west bound Willow Pass Rd from Galindo St to Gateway Blvd will be closed to all vehicle traffic. This is to accommodate a May Day March for “housing, immigrant and worker justice.”

The march will start at Meadow Homes Park and end at Todos Santos Park, with several streets along the route being temporarily closed to vehicular traffic. These streets include Detroit Ave, Clayton Rd, Gateway Blvd, Willow Pass Rd, Galindo St, and Mt Diablo St.

Concord Police officers will be on hand to direct traffic and assist the marchers and
drivers as much as possible, but drivers should expect delays

This is ridiculous! No streets or roads should be closed at ANY time! It’s a public safety issue. What in hell is the problem with the city fathers of Concord? People WORK in that area! I hope the ICE people have their buses ready and pick up the illegal vermin “immigrants.”

This is bullshit, what about emergencies or people who actually have to work and just want to get home.

Your ignorance and intolerance is showing Apr 30, 2017 - 8:03 pm

This town’s founding fathers were hispanic… Everything about Concord’s birth and original families… were hispanic!!!!! Galindo and Pacheco families were the founders… this isnt ridiculous and your hatef ul comments are shameful….. us WHITE people are the original ” immigrants” here – Hispanics and Native American’s were here LONG before whites were. I work in this area and will find an alternate route home just as i did when i had to avoid the science marches and other protests people have a right to do. Get over your selfish, privileged racist selves.

Us “white people” came here legally through Ellis Island. A lot of Hispanics are here illegally. What part of ILLEGAL don’t you understand?

ANY march or protest is ASININE. I don’t care if it’s Constitutional. It’s still asinine.

Get over yourself, and get a life.

US white people took land that didn’t belong to them, what part of that don’t you understand. The extra ten minutes won’t take too much time away from tucking your balls between your legs. If you can’t deal with all this freedom, you should leave the country.

Interesting that you used the word asinine.

Thanks, good points.

They have a constiontional right to the March. You may not like it but they have the right, and being that the police have informed you, the proper paper work was filed.

Nick May 1, 2017 - 11:32 am

And I have the “right” to remind you that there is no such word as “constiontional.” Learn how to spell. You may not like that either.

Next time, pay attention in school.

Lola Saavedra – is your name from a Native American tribe like the Miwoks that settled the area several thousand years ago. Your immigrate comment is offensive

This is how a match should be done.
Organized, announced ahead of time. Calm, cool collected

I may not like the march and have many disagreements with it but do believe they have a right to. Being born and raised in the USA, having strong Christian values, graduating from the US Naval Academy with a degree in Engineering and serving my country faithfully, I have fought for my country to allow these freedoms. If not allowed to, we begin to look more like a communist state or even worse, a country like North Korea.

Nick May 2, 2017 - 1:22 pm

Steve, you’re here legally. A lot of these people are here illegally, and anyone with an ounce of common sense knows this.

I’m sick of illegal immigrants in CA, especially from Mexico.
