Here is a look at the local events in East Contra Costa County this weekend:


8:00 am: Brentwood Farmers Market
Join the Brentwood Farmers Market which runs every Saturday now through November 19 on Oak Street in Brentwood. The market runs from 8:00 am to noon.


8:00 am Hook Line & Sinker Customer Appreciation

Hook-line-and-sinker-saleOn July 23-24 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the event will have raffles which include firearms, fishing gear and more.

There will also be a Tri-tip BBQ, kids trout pond (ages 5-14). First 100 kids get a free pancake breakfast.

According to Hook Line and Sinker, they will have a gun safe extravaganza with incredible pricing. There will also be demonstrations and multiple activities.

Hook Line & Sinker has a variety of fishing rods, reels, and tackle. It also has guns and ammunition. Reloading equipment, gun safes along with hunting and fishing apparel.

8:00 am: Chichibu Park Japanese Garden/Pagoda Restoration
This is a celebration of an Eagle Project to restore the Japanese Garden and Pagoda at Chichibu Park by Tyler Wright who chose this project because of his love for our Sister City Chichibu, Japan. They have been working with the city of Antioch to restore the 40 year old plaques donated by our Sister City and desecrated by vandals and recreate the beautiful Rock River. We will also be cleaning and repainting the Pagoda. If you have time to come help, we’d love to have you.

The event is from 8:00 am to noon at 3241 G St, Antioch, California


10:00 am: 2nd Annual Main Street Car Show
On Saturday, the City of Oakley and Les Schwab Tires will host  the 2nd Annual Main Street Car Show. The event will take place at the Civic Center Plaza from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Check out the classic cars and vendors, while enjoying live classic rock and blues by the band, “The Free Agents.” Parking will be available adjacent to Guanatos along Main Street and at Oakley Elementary School along Norcross Lane.

10:00 am: Clear the Shelters Event
Local animal shelters in Antioch and Contra Costa County will be joining shelters nationwide for one day to #cleartheshelters.

All adoption fees will be waived for any adoptable animal at the shelter on July 23rd between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at 300 L Street in Antioch.

All of the wonderful animals of Antioch will be spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated prior to going to their qualified forever homes. Please join staff and volunteers for a day of fun, a day of adoptions and help #cleartheshelters.


6:00 pm Antioch Summer Concert Series (Free)
Once again Waldie Plaza in downtown Antioch will be the place to be on Saturday nights in July and August (excluding 7/2nd due to the holiday) for free concerts by the river.

The Antioch Free Saturday Summer Concert Series continues with Nicky D/The Extreme All-stars, Old School, in downtown Antioch at Waldie Plaza located between G & I Streets (by Antioch City Hall off of 2nd Street).

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and visit a downtown restaurant before the concert or bring a light meal/snack from home. Waldie Plaza is a designated park and park rules apply (no alcohol, dogs on leash, etc.).


6:30 pm: Antioch Speedway:
You are invited to watch racing Saturday night at the Antioch Speedway with six divisions which include Wingless 360 Sprints, Late Models, Limited Late Models, Dwarf Cars, B Mods, Hobby Stocks. Gates open at 5:00 pm and racing begins at 6:30 pm.

A Little Further Out

July 31: Antioch Rivertown Celebrates Exclusive Local Wines

Antioch-RivertownJoin the Save the Yard as they host wine tasting at the Antioch Historical Museum located at 1500 W 4th Street in Antioch from 2:00 -5:00 pm. This is a fundraise for the Save the Yard/Town Square Initiative. The event features wine tasting, hors d’ oeuvres, music, raffles and a museum tour.

Tickets are available at Jim Lanters State Farm insurance, and Oddly Unique on G street, as well as East County insurance on Tregallas. The Museum will be open, and all wines are local.

August 2: Pittsburg Police National Night Out
The Pittsburg Police Department invites you to join us for National Night Out 2016! This free event will be held at Small World Park on August 2nd from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.


August 2: Contra Costa County Sheriff National Night Out
The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff looks forward to taking part in National Night Out events throughout the county on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. It is an excellent opportunity for Office of the Sheriff staff to meet the residents and communities that we serve.

August 6: Antioch Rivertown Wine Walk
