Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery announced that with Christmas and New Years falling on a Monday this year, all collection days that week will take place the day after your regular collection day.
For example, if your collection day is normally on a Monday, collection during the Holiday week will be on a Tuesday.
Free Christmas Tree Recycling
There are two easy ways to recycle your Christmas tree:
At the curb: please place your Christmas tree at the curb on your yard waste day and they will pick it up for you at no additional charge. If your tree is 5 ft. or taller, please cut it in to lengths no longer than 3 ft due to trucks that cannot pick up anything longer than 3-ft in length.
Take it to the Contra Costa Waste Services (also known as the Recycling Center or Transfer Station—RCTS) located at 1300 Loveridge Road in Pittsburg. The RCTS is open daily from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm (closed Christmas Day and New Years Day).
Christmas Trees will be taken at no charge – limit one tree per vehicle. You are asked to remove all tinsel, flocking, ornaments and tree stand.
In East Contra Costa County, this will impact residents in Pittsburg, Oakley, Discovery Bay, Byron and Knightsen communities.
