Fairfield: Man Arrested for Lewd and Lascivious Acts Upon a 7 Year Old

by ECT

On September 16, 2017, the Fairfield Police Department received a call regarding an assault that had occurred inside of a business in the 3000 block of Travis Bl.

The caller said that an adult male had inappropriately touched a 7-year-old girl.   Officers responded to the store, but the suspect had already left the scene.

During the initial investigation, officers learned that the young girl and her mother had been shopping inside the store when the male approached the child from behind and touched her with his genitalia.  The victim was able to describe the suspect and with the help of store managers, identified the suspect as Jacob Haynes, a 26-year-old Vacaville resident.

Detectives in the Family Violence Unit partnered with the Solano County Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET), and began a search for the suspect.  On October 18th Haynes was located at a residence in Vacaville and taken into custody.  He was booked into Solano County Jail on charges of 288(a) PC – Lewd and Lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 14.

There have been no other reports of Haynes victimizing other young children, and the business where he had been employed has cooperated with our investigation.  With that said, we would still encourage all of our residents to be aware of their surroundings and who may be approaching them.  We would also recommend that parents take a few minutes to speak with their children about what to do if approached by strangers and remind them that no one should be allowed to touch them in any manner that makes them uncomfortable.

Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call the Fairfield Police Investigations Bureau at 707-428-7600.
