DeSaulnier, McNerney Issue Statements on Trump’s Decision to Withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement

by ECT

In response to President Donald Trump’s decision to withdrawal the United States from the Paris Agreement, Congressmen Jerry McNerney and Mark DeSaulnier issued the following statements:

Rep. Jerry McNerney

“I’m greatly disappointed, though unfortunately not surprised that President Trump has decided to pull the United States out of the Paris Climate Accord. This decision is wrongheaded and a dangerous mistake that will have a devastating impact on future generations.

“The Paris Accord brings together the collective resources of governments around the world in order to reduce emissions, and has motivated the biggest emitters – such as China and India – to take strong steps toward reducing emissions in their countries.

“Climate change is one of the biggest issues facing our nation and our planet. We’ve seen a rise in extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and other health-related consequences of harmful emissions. This affects our lives in every way, including public health, economic growth, and our environment. The United States needs to remain a leader in combating and mitigating the effects of climate change. The President’s decision is a step backward.

“President Trump and his advisors are pushing policies that are threatening the safety and wellbeing of every American, and of future generations around the world. This decision is willfully ignorant, dangerous, and without reason or justification, and I will continue to fight back against any measures that threaten the future of our country and our planet.”

Rep Mark DeSaulnier

“Withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement—when climate change is irrefutable—is a brazen attack by President Trump on our planet, public health, and scientific fact. The President’s justification that this is an economic decision is irresponsible and ill-informed. The renewable energy industry is growing at least 10 times faster than any other industry in our country. If the President’s arguments were true, you would see the California economy tanking and jobs fleeing the state because of our strong environmental standards. Instead, these standards have helped grow our economy to the sixth largest in the world. Despite today’s setback, California and the countries remaining in the agreement will lead the world in combatting pollution and promoting innovative green technologies that are the way of the future. President Trump has chosen to isolate the United States from the rest of the world, and has turned his back on our workers, our children, and the health of our planet, ” said Congressman DeSaulnier.

These two dems are perfect examples of waste and what is wrong with California and America.

If they are so worried about emitting “toxic gas” the should shut their mouths, get to work and do us all a favor. If they have forgotten what their elected jobs are, then I will gladly suggest they go away. Far away.

Perhaps they are better known as Dumb and Dumber. Hard to even look at their mug shots.

Their 15 seconds is about over. I am sure they have a protest or sit in to attend…….

No one denies the planet is warming. We have been warming for thousands of years and with much, much, less humans on earth. Yes, warming has accelerated in the last 100 years. Evidence is the earth has gone through many warming and cooling periods at various rates for thousands of years. Nature is the largest force behind the trend. Humans contribute but only a small portion compared to nature. So why shutdown one coal plant while India and China build ten? The Paris Climate Agreement is wrong for the US and the world.

Fair agreement is needed first Jun 2, 2017 - 9:44 am

I agree OP, the US has been getting screwed for a long time. Climate change will occur with or without humans. Obviously excessively is too much but we need the rest of the world to participate fairly. What the president is saying is that other countries need to address the issue equally. That is not happening. He also says we are back in with an agreement that truly has meaning for all countries not just us.

Desaulnier and Mc Nerney have nothing better to do because they are incapable of representing common sense. Try fixing the entitlement abuse and the record deficit you created.
