CONFIRE Battles 150 Acre Kirker Pass Blaze

by ECT

Big hat tip to CLAYCORD for providing up to date information on the fire between Kirker Pass and bailey Road between Pittsburg and Concord which both CONFIRE and CALFIRE are fighting.

At 6:16pm, the blaze was about 30 acres in size while there was no easy access to the slow moving fire. By 7:15, the incident grew to 150 acres in size and 60% contained with active fire in several drainages in the hills.

According to CLAYCORD, the fire should be able to be contained with the current assignment of resources from both Cal Fire and Con Fire – however there is no specific time for expected containment. Cal fire has 5 engines, 2 dozers, 2 hand crews, 3 air tankers, 2 helicopters, 1 Battalion Chief and 1 Fire Prevention Officer at the incident. Con Fire has 5 engines, 1 dozer, and 2 Battalion Chiefs at the scene. Federal Fire has 2 engines and 1 Battalion Chief at the scene.

The website also shared three amazing photographs taken by Will Clayviellie of a  CalFIRE helicopter taking water from the Oakhurst Golf Course Pond.

The fire that blackened 150 acres in the hills between Kirker Pass & Bailey Road, is now contained while the cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported and no structures were destroyed.
