Concord: 16-Year-Old Bicyclist Dies After Being Struck by Pickup Truck

On Feb 18 at 6:51 PM Concord Police Department responded to a report of an auto vs. bicyclist collision on Willow Pass Rd. at the intersection with Fry Wy. in Concord.

Officers responded to the scene along with paramedics and firefighters where the bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of a pickup truck, a 40 year old male from Fairfield, was driving west-bound on Willow Pass Rd. approaching Fry Wy. The bicyclist, a 16 year old male from Concord, was riding north-bound across Willow Pass Rd. in the west crosswalk at Fry Wy. The pickup truck struck the bicyclist as it traveled through the intersection.

After the collision, the driver stopped at the scene and called the police. He cooperated with the investigation. At this time we do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.

Willow Pass Rd. was closed at Fry Wy. for approximately 4 hours to perform roadway measurements, collect evidence, and conduct the investigation.

The family of the bicyclist has been notified. Additional details are not being released at this time.
