Clayton: Firefighters Contain 5 Acre Vegetation Fire on Marsh Creek Road

At 1:55 pm Sunday, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District was battling a vegetation fire in the 16700 block of Marsh Creek Road at John Marsh Road. in unincorporated Clayton.

CALFIRE, Contra Costa County Fire along with East Contra Costa Fire were responding units into the fire.

According to one caller the fire was 50-ft from their home, firefighters arrived on scene and mobilized for structure protection.

Battalion Chief 5 arrived on scene and by 2:20 pm requested an additional strike team response to his location which included units from Antioch, Concord, Oakley and Pittsburg.

By 2:32 pm, a live stock evacuation team who offered to respond was staging at the mobile home park.

By 2:43 pm, CHP was requested for traffic control. Vehicles were still being allowed through, but at a controlled slow rate of speed.

By 3:00 pm, BC5 released the Strike Team from the incident and by 3:14 pm stated the fire was contained at 5.2-acres.

  1. I think someone is setting these fires! Vegetation fires don’t start by themselves.
