CHP: Man Dies in Solo Crash Sunday Morning on SR-4 in Martinez

The California Highway Patrol reported Sunday that at about 4:05am, Contra Costa CHP was advised of a solo vehicle traffic collision on the westbound lanes of SR-4 at Alhambra Avenue.

Upon CHP and emergency personnel arrival, it was determined that a white 2011 Toyota Camry veered off the roadway and collided with trees and brush and sustained major damage. The male driver of the Camry tragically did not survive the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

In the initial investigation, it appears that the solo male driver of the Camry (41yr old male from Richmond) was traveling on SR-4 westbound at Alhambra Avenue. For unknown reasons, the driver veered the Camry off the north side of the roadway and directly into a tree where it was subsequently crushed by the tree. Unfortunately the driver of the Honda succumb to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in this collision.
