According to the CHP Website, they are reporting that this mornings accident on Sunset Road in Brentwood is a fatality.
According to limited information the accident occurred at 2:33 am and the crash occurred near Byron Highway.
According to the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, the single vehicle rollover incident had two patients. Upon arrival they located 1 vehicle off the roadway on its roof and one person had been ejected. One patient suffered minor injuries and the other was a fatality. (photo provided by ECCFPD)
Update 9:30 am per CHP
KNIGHTSEN, Calif. – Early this morning at approximately 2:30 AM, CHP – Contra Costa responded to a call of a traffic collision on Sunset Road, near Byron Highway. The sole vehicle, a 1948 Plymouth Deluxe, was traveling eastbound on Sunset Road, approaching Byron Highway at an unknown speed. The collision occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Plymouth veered off the roadway and overturned several times ejecting both occupants. One of the occupants was pronounced dead at the scene. The other occupant was transported to Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. This collision is still pending further investigation and the driver of the vehicle has yet to be determined. If anyone witnessed this collision or has information regarding events leading up to this collision, they are asked to call CHP – Contra Costa at 925.646.4980.
