At roughly 6:43 am Sunday morning, ECCFPD fire crews responded to a residential structure fire on Brentwood Blvd. near Sims Road in Brentwood.
Firefighters arrived to find a single story detached garage that had heavy fire involvement which sent up a giant cloud of black smoke into the air. Firefighters immediately went defensive on the fire to protect a nearby home and other structures.
Crews limited damage to the detached garage and damage was to about 75% of the structure which suffered heavy fire damage to the building and its contents—including numerous motorcycles and equipment.
The incident required 17-ECCFPD personnel and 3-CONFIRE personnel. Oakley Police and Contra Costa Sheriff’s blocked traffic on Brentwood Blvd. as crews worked the scene. ECCFPD was on scene for just under 3-hours.
According to the Battalian Chief, the owner estimates about $100,000 in loss and that the fire appears to be accidental in nature, however, a further investigation may occur. The exact cause was undetermined.
“Fire crews did an excellent job of containing the fire to the detached garage and protecting several residents as exposures,” said Chief Hugh Henderson.

Fast forward to November with station closures on this fire. First Engine from Oakley, Second from Balfour in Brentwood and third due from Discovery Bay all in a perfect scenario barring anything else occurring at the same time as this fire. Then your next engines are coming from Antioch or Pittsburg. Hope East County is prepared.
I feel bad for the homeowner but these photographs are amazing pieces of work
