Bay Point: Temporary Road Closure Set for Canal Road at Alves Lane

by ECT

The Contra Costa County Public Works Department has announced it will close Canal Road at Alves Lane at the Contra Costa Canal Bridge for five months for a bridge replacement.

According to public works, the bridge is approximately a half-mile west of Bailey Road and the project will include a new concrete bridge, reconstruction of the adjacent roadway and sidewalks and the removal of the adjacent pedestrian bridge.  The new bridge will include five feet wide sidewalks.

The work is expected to begin on September 18, 2017 and is anticipated to be completed by February 2018.

Canal Road/Alves Lane will be completely closed at the bridge with a detour to Willow Pass Road and Bailey Road. The adjacent pedestrian bridge over the canal will be in service for most of the construction period prior to removal.
