At 8:06 pm Sunday night, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of a rollover crash on Lone Tree Way at Smith Road in the City of Brentwood.

Firefighters arrived on scene with AMR and Brentwood Police where they located a vehicle on its side after apparently striking a pole. An 80-year-old female was trapped in the vehicle and was having difficultly breathing.

After stabilizing the vehicle, firefighters worked to extricate the woman by using the jaws of life to cut the roof off the vehicle and free her. Once free, she was transported down the road to the medical helicopter where she was airlifted to a local hospital.

The incident shut down Lone Tree Way in both directions as crews worked the scene. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by Brentwood Police.
