US Flags Being Collected for Retirement Ceremony

by ECT

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has declared Tuesday, October 11, 2016 as a DAR Day of Service to commemorate the 126 anniversary of the National Society.

As our participation in this celebration, the Anne Loucks Chapter NSDAR will be collecting old, damaged or discarded American flags for disposal in the manner proscribed by the United States Flag Code. We have made arrangements to collect these flags from 9 am – 4 pm at the following locations:

  • Martinez Veterans Memorial Building, corner of Ward and Court Streets, Martinez. The Sea
Cadets, Diablo Squadron, will retire the flags.
  • Veterans Memorial, corner of Civic & North Broadway, Walnut Creek.
  • Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1525, Veterans Memorial Hall, 2290 Willow Pass Road, corner of Willow Pass and Colfax Street in Concord.
  • Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10789 , Brentwood Veterans Memorial Building, 757 First Street, Brentwood. Flags will be retired by the Boy Scouts Troop #2020 in Brentwood.

Now is your chance to properly dispose of the old torn, worn out flag you have been storing in your garage or attic and help us achieve our goal at the same time.
