Updated: Road Rage Shooting Ends in Arrest by Brentwood Police

At around 9:30 am Monday, the Brentwood Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Fruitwood Common off Havenwood Avenue in the City of Brentwood.

While responding, they received a report of a vehicle leaving the area and a short time later, spotted the vehicle and detained a suspect. A firearm believed to have been used in the incident was recovered in the vehicle.

No suspect information was released as of 11:00 am and police were investigating whether this was connected with a possible road rage incident that occurred earlier in the morning.

No injuries were reported

UPDATE per Brentwood Police: Road Rage ends in Arrest

On 12/09/19, at around 9 a.m. Brentwood officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Fruitwood Common to investigate some type of altercation where a gun had been discharged. During the investigation, officers learned the victim and Victor Cordova (55 year old Brentwood resident) both engaged in a road rage incident, which escalated into a confrontation, when they had exited their vehicles. Cordova produced a gun, shooting once at the victim, narrowly missing him. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Cordova immediately fled the scene at a high rate of speed in his vehicle. Responding officers located Cordova in his vehicle within minutes, and after interviewing witnesses, officers searched the area and recovered the gun.

Cordova was arrested without incident, transported and booked into county jail on attempted murder charges, along with various firearm related charges.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Brentwood Police Deaprtment at 925-809-7911. It is apparent this was an isolated incident and there is no further threat to public safety.

How come there have been so many gun-related incidents in Brentwood. The kid shoots himself in the leg in front of the bowling alley. Now some old fart gets into a road rage altercation with someone? What gives?

“Nearly missed”? I would not comment if this was what a witness report but ECT missed this incorrect fact. The words mean he was hit but not injured.
