UPDATE: Westbound Highway 4 Reopens After Walnut Creek Bomb Called Out to Antioch

The California Highway Patrol have issued a SIGALERT after police activity has shut down westbound Highway 4 between Contra Loma and Loveridge.

No details have been released on what the incident is as of 1:09 pm.

UPDATE
Traffic is being directed off w/b HWY-4 at Contra Loma/L St & can re-enter at Loveridge Rd. This is due to a suspicious abandoned vehicle that may have an explosive device in it, but unconfirmed. Taking all traffic safety precautions & Walnut Creek PD EOD unit enroute to assist.

2:45 pm UPDATE
The device that resembled something similar to a pipebomb was rendered safe by Walnut Creek EOD squad. Freeway is completely open as of 2:30pm.
