At 2:28 am Wednesday, East Contra Costa Firefighters responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 1600 block of Eden Plains Road in Brentwood.

Upon arrival, Engine 59 and the Battalion Chief located a fully involved single story residential structure fire with the report of occupants inside along with power lines down and reports of explosions.

Crews conducted an immediate offensive fire attack from the exterior of the structure which was hampered by over an hour delay of PG&E arrival to mitigate power lines on the ground between two structures.

According to the District, two occupants were found outside and were treated and turned over to AMR for transport to a local hospital with smoke inhalation. It is also being reported that several dog may have died in the incident.

The District said the home was a total loss while windows and stucco was damaged on a neighboring home. The estimated loss is $500,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to assist the family, click here.

Editors Note:
Given the closeness of the second structure, with limited resources on scene, crews from ECCFPD & CONFIRE did a fantastic job protecting a second home
