Update: Antioch Police Release Information on Attempted Abduction of Middle School Student

by ECT

On March 11th, 2015 at approximately 7:00 am, a 12 year old female was walking to school in the rain. While she was walking near the 2200 block of Sycamore Drive, a black male adult stopped his vehicle next to her and asked her if she wanted a ride.

The 12 year old female took off running eastbound on Sycamore Drive. The black male adult followed the female and asked her a second time if she would like a ride. The female took off running towards Antioch High School and advised a security guard of the incident.

The female described the black male as being in his late 30’s with an unshaven face, driving a white or gold vehicle that had an appearance similar to a PT Cruiser.

Officers are currently investigating the incident in order to determine if any crime was committed. Officers ask that the involved male or anyone with information regarding this incident contact the Antioch police Department non-emergency line at (925) 778-2441.

The following information was released by Ms. Wahidi, Vice Principal of Antioch Middle School earlier today.

7AM in the rain. What child would be walking to the Middle School at that hour? What kind of parent would allow that? Glad she is safe.

Ain’t nutttin wrong wid kidnapping kids. Besides the perpetrator was supposedly black, which means he must be innocent.

Where did Antioch go wrong??????? Mar 11, 2015 - 10:08 pm

Am I missing something? Where is the attempted abduction of a child? This title does not come close to what you put in the article. I believe there has to be a little bit more then what you are describing before you title this an attempted abduction.

You don’t have to like the title but Antioch Police and Antioch Middle School called this incident an “Attempted Abduction”.

Your right ECT, I don’t have to like a title that does not fit what is reported. The school titles it an attempted abduction. This implies that a crime has occurred. A correct title in that assumption would be an attempted kidnapping. APD states it is still investigating the incident to see if a crime occurred. This would lean against them saying that it was an “Attempted Abduction” or correctly put ” Attempted Kidnapping”. Not to argue with you but want to point out what appears incorrect. I enjoy reading the articles but will point out something if I don’t agree. That’s why you give us this blog.
