Wow! No one would ever think there would be a shooting there. What happens when people start shooting back at these assholes? It should be legal for me to witness a shooting than be able to chase down the shooter and kill him. These fucking thugs think they are the only ones with guns and try to intimidate the rest of the public. The funny part is that they are all BLACK PEOPLE!!!!! You niggers don’t give a damn about anyone else’s life but we have to care about yours? Fuck BLM!!!

Not all Black ppl do that so don’t say only black ppl do that ok u need to look at the news more asap it sound like u racist

FYI Aug 3, 2019 - 6:54 pm

You are probably not very bright so I will make this easy. What color were the subjects and victims of just this past months violent crimes? When you go to Romi’s, who is outside slinging drugs and acting like assholes? Not racism when the fingers point to BLACK OR……..

The Cavallo and Sycamore areas are dangerous to the residents of Antioch. These two venue have been criminal-infested for decades! The City or the feds need to get involved and just BULLDOZE all those structures down to nothing! Drive the criminal element out of this area entirely!

The federal government DOES step in if an area has been deemed dangerous and illegal drug-infested.

Can you provide where this information can be obtained or is this just “something you heard” ? I think the Chief of Police would have to request federal assistance formally through the City Council. It’s not like he can just call up “Billy Bob or Bobette” at the feds at just say, “Come on in boys, bring your bulldozers.”

☺☺☺☺

This information was well-publicized a few years ago where the feds could get involved if the local authorities could not deal with in a timely manner. If illegal drugs were involved and the property owner did nothing about it, then the feds would step in an confiscate the properties. It’s not “something you heard.”

I doubt if this Chief of Police would request federal help. All that would say is that he had no control over the situation.

I have a cousin who works as a lawyer for DOJ, so I’ll ask him about it.

Max Mace Aug 1, 2019 - 2:15 pm

Yes! Those two neighborhoods are blighted and havens for criminals. Some real ghetto sewer rat scumbags live in the 1800 block of Cavallo and if you drive up and down that street, you see them just ‘hanging out’ wearing their do-rags, smoking their shit. The DOJ is the agency which has people who investigate such places after checking on how many murders and other crimes were committed there.

Why so they can infest other parts of our city. Just keep them there and let them take each other out. Simple.

Vito Aug 1, 2019 - 6:58 pm

They’re already infesting other parts of the city. The apartment building in the 1825 address should be condemned and torn down. That’s where all the problems start. Romi’s is another infested venue. The City should pull their business license and the state should take away their liquor license. Let the occupants move back to Oakland and the Richmond iron triangle.

Usually do not agree with you much but you are spot on. We have too many people that live for practically free (at our expense) while spending their earned (or drug money) money on drugs and such just ruining our once beautiful city. Antioch needs to screen section 8 real bad. There are folks that may need it but many more that take advantage.

martin nmn Aug 1, 2019 - 11:00 pm

The ENTIRE Section 8 concept should be shelved for good! I’d love to personally ring the neck to the politician who came up with this insane idea! It just brings real problems to a neighborhood.

Say, you buy a house and declare it a Section 8 house. The renter will pay 30% of his income and the rest is paid by the US TAXPAYER. Therefore, you and I are paying the homeowners MORTGAGE! Nice, isn’t it?

Roger Aug 4, 2019 - 3:59 pm

Why in hell did you move out here? Section 8 availability? Oakland not good enough? Weren’t you happy in Oakland with your own people?

Mike G Aug 1, 2019 - 3:19 pm

In such prosperous times, most of the news in Antioch is shootings, car crashes, robbery or another store closes. Even with a small recession which surely is coming, is there hope?

Ericson Aug 6, 2019 - 11:40 pm

How did these shit bags get into this city? Who let them in?

dennis Aug 1, 2019 - 11:29 pm

Well folks the first step is to replace the mayor and entire city council in 2020 they are all up for election replace there asses next is get rid of chief brooks he needs to go his department right now is a joke he has run the department the from what he has seen as a antioch police officer for the past 26 years need a chief that is tough on crime one that allows his officers too pull up to romies liquors parking lot and shake down every suspicious person there no loitering is allowed right there is a violation of the law while a minor in fraction its gives the officers opportunities at other times to catch them same people in other crimes also lets the scum know they cannot hang around there and commit crimes right now apd will not respond to a person getting in the big lots parking lot sad Antioch is a beautiful city with all the potential in the world

TINA Aug 2, 2019 - 6:01 pm

You got it, Dennis! Here is how the scum hanging out in front of ROMI’s should be handled. Remember the 1971 film, “The French Connection?” where Jimmy “POPEYE” Doyle walks into black bar and tells them:

“All right!  Popeye’s here!  Get your hands on your heads, get off the bar and get on the wall!  Now, I’m gonna bust your ass for those three bags and I’m gonna nail you for picking your feet in Poughkeepie!”

Tammy Aug 3, 2019 - 12:27 am

I watched The French Connection on Xfinity and it has become one of my favorites! The Popeye character, played by the incomparable Gene Hackman was off-the-wall. He knew how to treat the BROTHAS!

Our PD should study that film closely and apply the same methods to the ghetto sewer rat crap which has invaded Antioch and other cities.

Mireille Aug 4, 2019 - 12:37 pm

Tina! I just LOVE that film! It should definitely be included in police training to show how these scumbags should be dealt with.

TINA Aug 4, 2019 - 1:44 am

I’ve never been to any “caboose” —- you’ve got the wrong person. Maybe you’re thinking of your mother.

Nancy Gates Aug 2, 2019 - 12:46 am

Another one bites the dust on Cavallo! Surprise! Surprise!

Ken Aug 2, 2019 - 10:17 pm

I hear the GHETTO BIRD flying over what might be the Cavallo neighborhood right now. Maybe there’s a 2-fer.

AE Aug 5, 2019 - 5:12 pm

This was my daughter’s husband! MURDERED in front of her!

Don’t Care Aug 5, 2019 - 7:46 pm

So………….? What are you trying to say. Do we care?

Max Aug 6, 2019 - 11:21 am

So, your daughter knows who pulled the trigger since this happened in front of her, yes? Have the police located him yet?

Pants Up Don't Loot Aug 6, 2019 - 6:51 pm

The city has to get into that scumbag area and clean it out one-way-or-another. It’s a public safety issue.
