Two-Month Old Baby Dies After Family Rushes to Hospital Over Antioch Bridge

Around 4:50 pm Monday, Antioch Police received a call that a 2-month-old baby was in need of medical attention as the family were driving from the north side of the Antioch Bridge.

According to Antioch Police Lt. John VanderKlugt, police and fire mobilized at the bottom of the Antioch bridge at Wilbur and I-160 after receiving a report of a baby in need of medical attention. The family was attempting to drive the boy to the doctors when his condition worsened. In transport, his conditioned continued to deteriorate.

Upon arrival, AMR and Firefighters Immediately began CPR . The baby was transported to a local hospital.

Lt. VanderKlugt stated the baby did not survive and confirmed the family are Antioch residents.

“The baby had a history of medical problems and the family was coming back from out of town when his condition worsened,” explained Lt. VanderKlugt.

Police consider this a medical issue as the boy had a severe pre-existing condition.

No further information was provided but police did offer their condolences to the family.
