Excelsior was on lock down from about 8:35 to 10:10. The students at the school did a great job following protocol and being patient and understanding of the situation. It was very hard for some students to sit for an hour and a half wondering what was going on. Great job to the administration communicating through e-mail and the teachers keeping the kids safe.

That was smart to walk down Byron Highway.I guess they didn’t get into the Boys Ranch by being intelligent. Now they will have a longer stay.

Unless they are moved to a stricter detention facility. Dumb move for those kids… Glad they were found safe and unarmed.

I appreciate the very valuable service provided by East County Today. Local information is the most important, and actually touches the lives of the news-readers. Most mediums, these days, chronicle events that are removed by distance, and only of sensational interest. Thanks, Mike!
