Tonight: Caldecott Tunnel WB No 4 Bore Emergency Overnight Tunnel Closures

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY and ALAMEDA COUNTY – Caltrans Bay Area will be closing the #4 westbound bore of the Caldecott Tunnel on State Route 24 (SR-24) which connects the cities of Orinda and Oakland starting at 10:00 PM on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

The overnight closure will take place on the #4 westbound bore which will close at 10:00 PM on Wednesday, June 30 and reopen at 4:30 AM, Thursday, July 1.

During the overnight closure, the Tunnel Road/Caldecott Lane exit from westbound SR-24 will also be closed.

The purpose of the closure is to accommodate routine maintenance and perform an annual emergency response drill inside one of the westbound bores. All other bores, including the other westbound bore, will remain open to traffic.

Traffic Control Measures:

Changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time.
