Today: Brentwood to Hold Special Meeting to Appoint Interim City Manager

The Brentwood City Council will host a Special Meeting today to enter into an agreement with Management Partners for Interim City Manager services.

According to the Staff Report, upon notification of Paul Eldredge’s planned resignation, a list of available candidates (10) was developed and ultimately Steve Salomon, a Special Adviser to Management Partners, was chosen.

Salomon, a Brentwood resident, has 40 years of experience in local government. He has previously served as a City Manager or City Administrator in several California cities. Mr. Salomon’s most recent position was as the City Manager of Visalia, California, where he served for 17 years. He has a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning, with a minor in Public Administration from Ohio State University.

In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on transportation and public works from the University of Cincinnati

The hourly rate charged by Management Partners for services performed by Mr. Salomon will be $145.00 plus expenses. Mr. Salomon will not receive any benefits from the City (e.g. health, vision, dental insurance, life insurance, or other benefits typically received by management employees). It is anticipated that the Agreement will be in place for approximately six months, or until a permanent City Manager is selected.

On June 27, City Manager Paul Eldredge announced his resignation as City Manager after 17 years of service with the City of Brentwood to accept the position of General Manager for theUnion Sanitary District in Union City. Eldredge was appointed City Manager on July 14, 2011 and approved August 9, 2011.
