Updated: Three Injured in Evening Hillcrest Ave Crash

by ECT

A major two-car accident yesterday evening shut down a portion of Hillcrest Ave in Antioch yesterday as crews worked to rescue two victims trapped inside one of the vehicles. The accident had Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, Antioch Police Department and AMR crews on scene for about an hour. Three were injured in the crash.

A helicopter was called, but was ultimately cancelled for ground transport after a landing spot became a challenge. One patient was transferred to Kaiser and another to Sutter Delta. A third patient was also transported to a local hospital.

The accident which occurred on Hillcrest Ave between the Highway 4 off-ramp and E 18th. It was directly across from the PG&E facility.

Update via Antioch PD:

A 22 year old female Pittsburg resident was traveling northbound on Hillcrest Ave near Arzate Lane when she lost control of her red Volvo and swerved into southbound lanes of traffic.  In doing so, she broadsided a gold GMC SUV, which caused the SUV to rollover.  The occupants of the gold SUV, a 16 year old female driver and 17 year old male passenger (both from Brentwood), were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.

Here are some pictures from the crash–and yes, that is a birthday balloon in some the photograph which shows just how things could change in an instant.

the other girl was up walking around, didn’t want to go to the hospital by ambulance, she was goingt o just walk in to ER to be checked…she just had some red area’s caused from the air bag, and the seat belt…..she was sharing that someone cut her off cuasing her to fishtail and spin out of control, causing this accident……I just hope they are all doing ok today being the day after! Praying for all involved!

Tragic. Glad they had their seatbelts on. .

Looks like a great response by all of the emergency service providers. Thank you P.D., Fire and EMS.

That being said, I am glad everyone is alright.
